At Kuppameniya, we believe that life is always better with pets.
As devoted pet parents to our five beloved fur babies — our cats Othello, Gingy, Scraggles, and doggies Welina and Ollie — we’ve experienced first-hand the joy, love, and companionship they bring into our lives.
Naturally, we’ve always wanted to give them the very best: toys and products that are safe, eco-friendly, and thoughtfully made.
However, when searching for quality products to enrich their lives, we noticed a troubling trend — so many pet items were made from plastic and synthetic materials. We knew there had to be a better way.
Inspired by the beauty of nature and the rich resources of Sri Lanka, we created Kuppameniya.
The name itself comes from a wild root found in Sri Lanka, similar to catnip. Just like catnip, it’s irresistible to our furry friends — the perfect inspiration for a brand that blends natural allure with sustainable design.
Our mission is simple yet powerful:
To handcraft eco-friendly pet products using locally sourced, upcycled, organic, biodegradable, and reusable materials. Every piece is made with love and care to ensure it’s safe for your pets and gentle on the planet.
Through our products, we bring a touch of Sri Lanka’s natural charm to pets everywhere.
Our in-house testing team — Othello, Gingy, Scraggles, Welina and Ollie — rigorously approve each item before it reaches your pets.
We also lovingly remember our loyal dogs Koko, Beauty, Hummus, and cat Mousey Kitty, who were part of our original testing crew and whose legacy continues to inspire everything we do.
Beyond our own family, we care deeply for the community animals around us — including Grey Joy, Kitty, the neighborhood crows, and any other furry wanderers who cross our path.
We actively support street dogs and cats through donations to animal welfare charities.
Animal welfare is a cause close to our hearts. All our furbabies are rescues and have their own unique rescue story. We are so blessed to have them in our lives and to be able to create things for them to bring them joy.
